It feels right that United have finally got a manager with the charisma and managerial nous to take a club like them forward whilst at the same time attracting players that only he could bring.
Once more Old Trafford is the place to be and the Special One will relish the coming months in his ultimate job. With his squad already bolstered ahead of the 2016/17 season and more signings on the horizon, Mourinho’s United should dominate this term.
New Signings
The new signings will make the world of difference and freshen up a team devoid of confidence and character.
Mourinho hasn’t finished and you can expect only the very best stepping through the reception area at Old Trafford. If Ibrahimovic can carry on where he left off in Paris, then goals won’t be a problem. Fans of the Premier League are looking forward to another Cantona type figure at Old Trafford, with the goal scoring touch of a Cole or Van Nistelrooy.
Mkhitaryan in midfield will become part of its creative force alongside Pogba, if Mourinho can entice Juventus to let him go. As the money offered rises, at some point, the club and player will cave in and Mourinho brings back a player United let slip through their grasp.
Bailly in defence alongside Smalling could be the defensive strength that United were lacking, but be prepared for more signings.
Expectancy
The pressure on Mourinho will be enormous and about as big as it will be for Conte at Chelsea and for Guardiola at City.
Expectation weighs heavily, but Mourinho has been here before and appears able to shrug it off and remain calm. At least on the outside.
That word, expectation, will also be on the shoulders of Wenger and on Klopp. Wenger’s Arsenal flatter to deceive and the natives grow restless.
At Anfield, Klopp has had ample time to assess his squad and buy and sell. With the money sloshing about in Liverpool, he will be expected to deliver. All of this goes in Mourinho’s favour.
Unprepared as many other managers might be, Mourinho is not and will hit the ground running, maintaining United’s position by December. The air of expectancy will help the United boss to thrive.
