da esport bet: Arsenal are ready to step up their efforts to bring Manchester City’s John Stones to the club in the summer, according to TEAMtalk.
What’s the word?
da winzada777: Mikel Arteta is believed to be very keen on the England international, having worked with him at the Etihad, but there could be a battle for his signature.
Stones signed for City in 2016 for £47.5m and it is reported that it may take a similar fee to land the centre-back, however the Gunners may be prepared to pay such a price.
It is thought that Everton and Tottenham are also interested in the 25-year-old, but given Arsenal are in “desperate need” of defensive reinforcements, they may be the most willing to meet City’s valuation.
The report adds that Arteta views Stones as a fantastic addition, and the Gunners gaffer believes he could be key in Arsenal beating rival suitors to his signature.
Suited to each other
Arteta has made several improvements to the side since arriving at the Emirates, not least the defence with five clean sheets in the last seven games.
There are still signs of weakness, however, with Olympiacos’ recent late winner undoing Arsenal far too easily when they were attempting to close out a result in one of their biggest games of the season.

The fact Pablo Mari was signed in January suggests Arteta may not be happy with his current options, with Shkodran Mustafi a frequent figure of criticism and one of several defenders who could be upgraded on since the North Londoners have conceded 36 goals in 28 league games this season.
Stone is still young yet well experienced. He will also bring a winning mentality, considering he has won six trophies at Man City, including the league twice, while also playing in the Champions League and the World Cup.

On the other hand, his lack of form this campaign is a concern. He has often found himself out of Pep Guardiola’s plans, starting just 10 league games before this weekend, possibly because he had averaged a WhoScored rating of 6.68 in the Premier League prior to the Manchester derby.
Despite that, Arteta will feel that he can bring the best out of him having worked with him previously, and new surroundings could be ideal for the defender to rebuild his lost confidence.
