da bet nacional: Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa must attempt to sign Steven Caulker on a free transfer after the club were linked with him in the summer while he was still a Dundee player.
Current situation
da pinnacle: Leeds have had a fantastic start to the season and sit at the top of the Championship, with 14 points from their first six league matches under new boss Bielsa.
The 63-year-old Argentine has come in to Elland Road and completely changed the tone around the club to one of hope and positivity with his new high-tempo, high-pressing style of play.
Despite the successful start to the season though, Leeds fans will be slightly worried about Bielsa’s small squad and the risk of players burning out thanks to his intense and demanding training sessions. One area where the Whites are short is in central defence with full-backs Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling both having to fill in at times so far in this campaign.
A great option
Caulker is only 26-years-old but has a huge amount of experience in both the Premier League and the Championship after spells with a number of clubs including Cardiff, Queens Park Rangers and Tottenham among others.
After leaving QPR in 2017 though his career was on a downward spiral, but his decision to join Dundee was inspired and allowed him to get back towards his best while in the Scottish Premier League.
After half a season and 17 games for the club, Caulker left Dundee during the summer in order to sign as a free-agent elsewhere. With Leeds interested in him earlier in the summer and currently lacking centre-backs, this deal would surely make perfect sense.
